Poems – A walk in the forest

As the wind blows,
I feel my toes.
A calmness comes over me.

I hear the bustle of the leaves
And the wind against my skin.
I hear the birds and their sweet songs
And I pause to breathe and take it all in.

I look up towards the trees
And relax my eyes,
Allowing the leaves to get a little fuzzy.
Pause. Breathe. Feel the stillness of my breath.
A smile takes over me.
The stillness feels so happy.

My eyes register movement.
Reward for being able to let go,
And looking fuzzily,
Without the tight grip of needing to see.

A bird,
I whistle back
Out of the corner of my eye
I see a butterfly
Its wings opening and closing
Like a revolving lotus on a leaf.

A bird flies by my head
And in the peace of what was
I feel the beating of his wings
His primordial Energy against my cheek.
Eyes half closed,
I feel the essence of his Being.
I wonder if he felt the same.
Felt what it’s like to be me.

Moments like this
I’m suspended in time
And am reminded
This is life
When I open my heart
Calm my mind
And just be.
