Poems – How do I know I am where I ought to be?

If I am who I am
And who I am is me,
Then what I portray
Isn’t someone I pretend to be.
What I think,
What I do,
Is independent
Of the you;
Of what I’m told,
And what I’ve learned,
‘Bout how the me
Is supposed to be.
Then the me,
Is the I,
And what I do
Is not a lie.
So the paths
Down which I turn
Lead exactly where
I’m supposed to be.
For how else
Can it be,
If what I do
Is [true to] me?
